More than 40 employers will be on hand at the 2019 Shawano Jobs Center’s Annual Job Fair next month.
The free event will be held three weeks from today at the The Gathering on East Richmond St. Local area employers will be on site taking applications and conducting on the spot interviews with candidates.
The state’s unemployment rate is at a record low of 3 percent and there are several jobs but State Representative Gary Tauchen of the Sixth Assembly District says there’s something keeping many of those positions from being filled.
“Unfortunately there’s a lot of people that don’t fit [the available job openings] because we have a skills gap,” Tauchen said.
He added that there are generally 80,000 to 110,000 jobs available at any one time in the state of Wisconsin.
There will be local colleges on hand to provide prospective students with the latest information on the technical community college opportunities in the area. There will also be military recruiters available to discuss different recruitment opportunities.
