Wisconsin is celebrating the 126 teachers who earned national board certification in 2017.
The state was one of 7 in the country to increase its total of National Board Certified teachers by more than 10 percent. Among the newly certified teachers are New London Middle School’s Melissa Anderson and Shawano Community High School’s Jill Sousek.
The process for national certification is performance based and peer reviewed, requiring teachers to demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills, and practice in their subject area by completing three portfolio entries and a computer-based assessment. They are eligible for reimbursement cost as well as a 2500 annual grant the duration of their 5-year certification.
44 Wisconsin teachers also renewed their certification.
