Hubert “Bert” C. Brown, age 74 of Keshena, died on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Pine Manor Healthcare Center in Embarrass, WI. He was born on April 11, 1943 in Racine, WI, the son of the late Hubert Sr. and Rose (Geretz) Brown. He graduated in 1961 from Racine Park High School, in Racine, WI. While attending the University of South Dakota, he wrestled and played football. He then completed his master’s degree in education at Northwest Missouri State College, in Maryville, MO. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Rosburg, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Vermillion, South Dakota, on December 22, 1963. Bert and Kathy returned to his hometown where he played and coached semi-professional football for the Racine Raiders from 1970-1974. He also returned to his high school to teach and coach. In 1983, Bert and Kathy moved to Legend Lake. He owned and operated Bert’s Place, in Shawano for 17 years. He enjoyed golfing, reading, traveling, a dog lover and boating and water sports on Legend Lake.
Bert is survived by his wife, Kathy; sons, Col. Ryan (Essy) Brown, of Wisconsin Rapids and Lance (Raquel) Brown, of Oak Creek; grandchildren, Samantha, Danielle, Samuel, Tristan, Mateo and Milan; and one sister Nancy (Paul) Reckamp, of Oxford, GA.
Bert is preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano, with Pastor Scott Ludford officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
