In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, supermarkets are crowded almost anywhere in America. But throw in hunting season and that’s when things really get busy. Charlie Harvey is the owner of Charlie’s County Market in Shawano and after five decades in the business, he knows how to handle the rush of shoppers coming into his store this weekend.
“Well the biggest preparation is to make sure you have enough employees, because you got hunters,” Harvey said. “Everyone has so much to do, Thanksgiving and deer hunting are the toughest ones.”
Harvey said compared to this time of the year, Christmas seems easy. After five decades in the business, he knows how to handle the rush of shoppers coming into his store this weekend.
“The trick is to be there to help people get checked out because they have other things on their mind, they’re busy. So have the stuff ready for them, make sure the shelves are full…try to make it a little bit easier. And it’s easier for us if we do a good job.”
