Another detail has come to light about the Menominee tribal police offier who was fired over inappropriate communications with an underage girl. A criminal complaint filed in federal court revealed that the inappropriate communications were going on while the officer was on duty.
Basil O’Kimosh Jr, 39, faces fifteen years to life in prison if convicted of attempted sexual exploitation of a child and other charges. The 15-year-old girl has told authorities the communications mostly took place between the hours of 6 pm and 8 am. That corresponds to the officer’s work hours.
O’Kimosh’s lawyers argued to have him released on bail but a federal judge denied their request. The judge said he is concerned that O’Kimosh may pose a danger to the community if released while his court case proceeds.
