City officials in Shawano report there’s not much interest from developers in revamping the old Shawano Medical Center Property. Since they started marketing the property last year, they’ve only gotten three proposals. Two of those have since been withdrawn. The Common Council will be discussing the property in closed session at a meeting today. Some officials have questioned whether sufficient marketing has taken place, pointing out that most of it was done before the medical center was demolished and the land was restored to green space. The former SMC campus consists of about 10 acres overlooking the Wolf River near downtown Shawano. The proposal that could still be on the table is one that was offered by Todd Dobberstein, who led a citizen’s group proposing that the former hospital site be converted into a multi-use community center.
