An Oconto Police officer crashed his squad car into a power pole while on duty early Aug. 23. Brandon Tousey, 22, had no apparent injury, but was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
Police Chief Bernie Faith, who said his department conducted an internal investigation, said the cause was operator error. The report does not state why Tousey veered, and states it is not known if the driver was distracted. Results of blood alcohol and drug tests – which are routinely conducted in officer-involved accidents – were negative, said Sheriff Mike Jansen.
Tousey, who has worked for OPD for 10 months, was not issued a citation, but was disciplined, however, though Faith would not say what it was.
