A state audit dispels claims of inadequate care at the state veterans home in King. Republican Senator Rob Cowles of Allouez co-chairs the Legislature’s Joint Audit Committee. The audit found that overtime hours for nursing staff nearly doubled over a two-year period. Cowles says the state secretary of veterans affairs should use revenues to fill open positions
“We have the ability to move money from that balance to attract more CNA’s when we don’t have this surge of overtime which could cause more stress from the staff and from the Veterans that are staying at King” Cowles said.
Auditors say the combined rating for King’s four residential facilities exceeded the average ratings for other skilled nursing facilities in the state.
