If you like competition, one of the most fierce and competitive races will be held Saturday in Shawano between Luigi’s and Charlie’s County Market.
Well, not exactly, but perhaps it will be most fun and entertaining 328-foot race around. It’s the .1K Rib Run. Check in for the run begins at 12 p.m. noon and tickets cost $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
“With your registration you’ll get a shirt, you’re going to get a sticker that says you ran the .1K, one of those you stick on your car,” explained Chad Kary from Luigi’s. “You will get a pint of beer and you get a few ribs that come with that ticket price.”
The race isn’t for the faint of heart. Even if you don’t think you can make the 328-foot run, there’s plenty of food and beverages available to go with live entertainment, along with the entertainment that comes from watching those participate.
“Of course we will have a hydration station halfway through the race to make sure everybody is getting adequately hydrated,” Kary said. “We don’t want anybody falling over. Goof off, I don’t care. I’ve got people dressing up in dinosaur costumes. If you want to come out dressed as a teenage mutant ninja turtle. It’s nothing more than an excuse to have a party at the end of summer.”
Prizes will also be awarded for individual, relay and costume categories for the run.
