Division 2 Baseball Regionals
#6 Shawano at #3 Peshtigo
The WIAA postseason for Shawano will open up at Peshtigo on Thursday May 25. The Hawks were seeded last after a rough regular season that resulted in three conference wins prior to seeding.
Shawano
After starting off the season 2-0 in the Bay, the Shawano Hawks proceeded to drop their next seven games in a row in a struggle to find consistency throughout the year in conference. Aside from their ace on the mound Dylan Sumnicht, pitching specifically has troubled the Hawks this season. In conference, they’re allowing 7.4 runs per game, which has proved to be difficult to overcome for their bats. In their three conference wins, Shawano has scored more than two runs only once. The Hakws are hoping to learn from the challenges of playing in the Bay this year, which could allow them to go on run as postseason play begins.
Peshtigo
The Peshtigo Bulldogs finished in the middle of the pack in the M&O with a 6-4 record. Although competition can vary in conference, they’ve been able to hold their own against undefeated Coleman, while also being able to take advantage of the lesser teams near the bottom, most recently a 36-0 victory over STAA/Lena. The Bulldogs will be ready to prove they’re able to play with anyone in the region.
The winner will travel to #2 Marinette on Tuesday May 30th.
The action will be heard on WTCH and at www.tchdailynews.com.
