A couple from New London are facing multiple drug charges following an issued search warrant.
According to a criminal complaint, 19-year-old Shaw B. Matenaer was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia in Waupaca County. A complaint also states that 23-year-old Dakota J. Wood had been charged with felony bail jumping and possession of marijuana April 24 and more counts of felony bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia again on May 3; he also faces additional charges in Portage County.
The complaint states the two were spotted by a Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy driving a reported stolen vehicle. The deputy followed the vehicle into a Walmart parking lot where he found Matenaer and Wood inside the store.
The two claimed to have borrowed the vehicle, according to the complaint, but neither had a valid driver’s license. Wood allegedly had about 2.5 grams of marijuana on him at the time, which he claimed was his girlfriend’s.
New London police officers executed a search warrant at their residence on Monday and reportedly discovered a digital scale with a powder residue, a small amount of meth, multiple cook caps, as well as new and used syringes, among other items.
