Officer Keith Sorlie and Detective Richard Wright Chosen As Shawano Optimist Officers of the Year Award Winners.
From The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department:
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce that Detective Richard Wright has been selected to receive the Shawano Optimist Club Officer of the Year award. Detective Wright has been with the Sheriff’s Office full-time since 1990. During those year’s he has demonstrated a level of dedication and perseverance that is an example to all. Rich does nothing half-way, which is evident in his commitment to each investigation he takes on. This is clearly demonstrated by the number of “cold cases” he has been able to examine and bring to closure. Detective Wright is also a dedicated member of the Shawano County Special Response Team and provides oversight of the equipment used in recreational patrols.
However, his contributions to the community do not end when he checks off duty. Rich has coached youth basketball and softball for years, he is active both within his church and committed to community outreach. While many peace officers have done many of these things over the course of a career, Rich has been active in these areas throughout his. I am pleased to select Rich Wright for this recognition and am proud to work side by side with him. Rich always has a positive attitude and it is contagious to everyone Rich works with. Congratulations Rich and on behalf of the citizens you serve, thank you for your service and dedication.
-Sheriff Adam C. Bieber
From the Shawano Police Department:
Keith began his law enforcement career in November 1991 as an Inspector, then Trooper with the WIS State Patrol. Keith resigned from the State Patrol to work for the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, until he started with the City police department in December 2015 as a patrol officer.
Keith has a strong background in drug investigations, and is an instructor in unified tactics, such as firearms and defensive tactics. Keith’s leadership and experience in drug investigations and training have been excellent. His tenacious work ethic and knowledge has set a great example for other officers on the department.
We’re proud of Keith’s accomplishments since joining the police department. His upbeat personality and camaraderie with his fellow officers is second to none.
