Verona M. Schuelke, age 101, of Tigerton passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville.
The former Verona Minnie Mueller was born on November 19, 1915 in the Town of Fremont, Waupaca County, to the late Frank and Helene (Struck) Mueller. She was united in marriage on May 3, 1941 to Karl J. Schuelke at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Weyauwega. The couple dairy farmed side by side for many years in the Town of Wyoming, Waupaca County. Her husband Karl also served as a town board member and issued fire & building permits in the Town of Wyoming for so many years. Even though they never had any children Verona always loved animals, especially all her cats and dogs. Her husband preceded her in death on August 27, 1988. She is a former member of St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Verona loved to get all dressed up and paint the town red whenever possible. She was well known for wearing her lipstick a little too bright but it always matched her incredible personality. Verona enjoyed fishing in the little creek behind the barn and taking care of her pets.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Linda Lehman of Arbor Vitae, WI, and a cousin, Lucille Hayes of Waupaca. There are some good friends, Jack (Rosie) Bazile of Tigerton and Richard Lundt of Tigerton. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Verona is preceded in death by her husband Karl, a sister-in-law Dorothy Robbins, a brother-in-law Vilas Lehman, and a dear friend Ken Krake.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 11th at 2:00 PM at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Rev. Clifford Kessen will officiate and burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Weywauwega. Friends may call on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
