The Weyauwega-Fremont School District went on lockdown shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday when the Weyauwega Police Department advised that precautionary lockout procedures should be initiated on school grounds, while the department addressed a concern within city limits.
During the precautionary lockout, all regular school activities continued as normal, however there was no foot traffic allowed in or out of the exterior doors.
Police lifted the lockdown about 30 minutes later when the Weyauwega Police Department notified the district that the matter was resolved.
While there was no direct threat to the schools, it is the practice of the district to go into a lockout, if a police situation occurs locally.
