Event has grown each year
Day two of three just wrapped up 57th annual Wisconsin Public Service Farm Show, which is being held on the EAA Air Venture grounds in Oshkosh.
“When it started, it was just bringing electricity to the farms, said Cory, one of the organizers for WPS. “We wanted to showcase how farmers could get electricity and actually over 57 years, it’s evolved to this where we’re bringing in people and showcasing the latest and greatest technology, supporting the industry, and allowing farmers to be energy efficient.”
The goal is to help farmers with all things, including crops, dairy, beef, or any other type of farm operation they have.
Educational opportunities also available
Everything potatoes can also be found at this year’s WPS Farm Show. The Wisconsin Spud Mobile is on display in Oshkosh. The Spud Mobile is an educational tool owned by the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable growers and is used to spread word to the youth about the agriculture business in the state. To do that, the Spud Mobile goes right to the schools.
“It is sort of like taking kids on a field trip without having to leave the school,” said an operator of the Spud Mobile. “We do a little presentation where we explain everything from cutting a seed potato all the way to production to the market where you buy it.”
The Spud Mobile will be on display through Thursday at the WPS Farm Show in Oshkosh.
