The Waupaca County UW-Extension is offering a cattle feeders workshop on February 21st held at Equity Cooperative in Marion. Representatives will lead a discussion on what buyers look for in live cattle to get a high quality beef carcass and which traits might detract from an animal’s value when determining how much to bid for fed or finished cattle. Live animals will also be used to demonstrate and emphasize the traits buyers find most important. Dr. Dan Schaefer from the UW Animal Science Department will lead a discussion on nutrition and desirable traits buyers are looking for, while Dr. Brenda Boetel, a Livestock Economist, will discuss the market outlook and factors influencing prices. Interested parties should contact the Waupaca County UW-Extension Office or the Equity Sale Barn in Marion. There is no registration fee or cost to attend.
