An Oconto County hunter’s dream of shooting a prize buck has come true, but not in a way you would expect.
When Wayne Douville of Abrams went to dress his 8-point buck, he found out it was an 8-point doe.
“This is the trophy of a lifetime,” Douville claimed. “You could live 10 lifetimes and not have this happen to you.”
Douville said it’s strange to believe, but it’s true, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources said it is possible. DNR officials said it is very rare, but some females could have more testosterone, resulting in the growing of antlers.
Douville said the discovery was a moment that he would never forget, and added that he had to ask how to register it.
