Fire departments from around Waupaca County spent hours on location when they were called to a barn fire in the Town of Union Friday afternoon.
It took several hours to put out the hot spots of the fire on Symco Road, and when they arrived, the barn and been completely engulfed by the flames. There were no injuries in the fire, but the owners of the property were working to get their 60 cows to safety.
It is unknown if all of the livestock was accounted for. While the barn is determined to be a total loss, the house had not been affected.
Fire crews were on scene well into the late evening and they say it was the high winds and the remote location of the fire that made it difficult to control.
Crews from Clintonville, Marion, New London, Shiocton among others responded to the fire.
