At last night’s Shawano County finance meeting, the finance committee voted to recommend to the county board that $3.5 million dollars be borrowed for upgrades to the county jail. Numerous technology issues have raised concerns over the years. The money would be used for better and more cameras for monitoring, as well as for upgrades to technology and door locking. The county is also looking at upgrading the its dispatch system to make it compatible with a new 911 emergency system.
