Gerald Edward Schertz, of Post Lake, WI, died Thursday, October 18, 2018, at his home. He was 75 years old. He was born on January 13, 1943, in Clintonville, WI a son of the late Raymond and Mary Winnifred (Kutchenreiter) Schertz. He married Kathleen Frost on August 10, 1963, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville.
He was co-owner of Schertz Dairy with his brother, Tom. He owned the Village Inn in Embarrass and Kathy and Jerry’s Bar in Clintonville. He later was involved with newspaper delivery including the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the Clintonville Shoppers Guide. Following his retirement, he moved to Post Lake.
He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville, Holy Family Catholic Church in Elcho and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crandon.
Jerry enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, the outdoors, hunting, ATV riding and spending time with family at the cottage.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; two sons, Brian (Pamela) Schertz of Shawano and Brad (Susan) Schertz of Appleton; two grandsons, Chad Schertz and Justin Schertz; a granddaughter, Emily Schertz; a brother, Terrence (Debbie) Schertz of Nekoosa; a sister, Judith (Robert) Ellison of Peshtigo; and special friend, Raymond Hans Nath of Post Lake. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon Schertz, and brother, Thomas Schertz.
A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
