A Suring man is serving a year in jail thanks to his dog. Daryl Tekus, 65, was sentenced to jail as a condition of three years probation granted by a judge. Tekus was arrested after a state patrol trooper found an SUV partially in a ditch along Oconto County R. Originally he told the trooper he swerved to miss a deer after stopping at a local tavern. On his way home his dog had gotten into the food and he swerved while reaching for his dinner. The trooper noticed the odor of alcohol and performed a sobriety test. Blood drawn found Tekus had a BAC of .158, more than twice the legal limit and 8 times the limit with somebody who has 4 OWI’s.
