A former Hortonville Area School District teacher charged with embezzling thousands of dollars from a parent-teacher organization and her daughters’ Girl Scout troops, and didn’t need the money she took. Former Hortonville High School special education teacher Renee M. La Fleur-Linder, 42, paid back the full $14,377 in restitution ahead of sentencing. Her family is financially stable with no debt which made the case perplexing. La Fleur-Linder was ordered to serve two months in jail as well as two and a half years on probation. She was sentenced on a single felony charge of theft in a business setting. Two other counts of theft in a business setting, one is a felony and the other a misdemeanor were dismissed.
