A young black bear decided to check out Lena School on Monday. The bear wandered up into the small parking lot in front of the school at about 10 a.m., and came right upon to the front doors. The school contacted the Department of Natural Resources, but after five minutes the bear moved on a left running across County Highway A. The DNR reported bear sightings have become increasingly common in Wisconsin as the population has nearly doubled since the 1990’s to around 29,000. The DNR advises to not make any contact with bears when they arrive.
