The city of Oconto is getting some extra help from the state to pay for a new shower and laundry facility at Hollywood Campground. The Department of Natural Resources last year approved a $75,000 matching grant for the city for the project. However, because of delays in other projects around the state, another $75,000 became available. The city will match the state’s grants with earnings from the campground. The cost of the project has been roughly estimated to cost $300,000. A design for the facility can’t be completed until a new model of the flood plain at the park is completed. The most recent model is more than four decades old. The model will allow the architect to determine the best spot for the shower/laundry area at the park, as well as its orientation and dimensions and is expected to cost $5,000.
