Jon R. Shively, Sr., age 72 of the Town of Richmond, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening, April 27, 2018 at his home.
Jon was born March 8, 1946 in Ludington, Michigan, a son of the late Robert and Dorris (Pahlow) Shively. His family moved to Shawano when he was a young child. He attended the Texas School in the Town of Richmond, and later St. James Grade School. He was a 1964 graduate of Shawano High School. Following school, Jon farmed. On May 24, 1969, he was united in marriage to the former Maureen Vomastic at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. The couple farmed in the Town of Belle Plaine for ten years. Jon was later employed at the Shawano Paper Mill. He retired from Shawano Papers in 2008 after 30 years of employment.
He is a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Jon was an outdoor sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and archery. He was a handyman who enjoyed remodeling, woodworking, cutting wood, and gardening. Jon loved to be with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Maureen, of the Town of Richmond; his children, Jon (Shaina) Shively II of the Town of Richmond, Melanie (Brad) Siebold of Green Bay, and Moniec Shively of Shawano; five grandchildren, Jace, Sean, Kayleigh, Seth, and Adler; his brother-in-law, Garry Felts of Shawano; brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Jon was preceded in death by his sister, Terri; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Myra Vomastic.
A memorial service for Jon R. Shively, Sr. will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 5:30 PM at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Mark Baldwin will officiate. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will take place from 4:00 PM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests memorials in Jon’s name to the St. James Radio Broadcast.
