Shawano County is joining a program previously unavailable in this area that will allow businesses in the county to obtain low-interest, long-term financing for clean energy projects. The Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program is made up of a coalition of counties and municipalities in the state that enables commercial property owners to obtain low-cost, long-term financing for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water conservation improvements. Shawano County will appoint a County Board supervisor to sit on the commission overseeing the program, along with 29 other counties in the state already involved. It has been endorsed by the Wisconsin League of Municipalities and Wisconsin Counties Association. The PACE program is also available in 32 other states.
