Wisconsin could be reducing funding for state road projects by as much as 90 million dollars beginning next year, in order to pay for road work related to the $10 billion dollar Foxconn Plant that’s coming to southeast Wisconsin.
The determination was made by the nonpartisan legislative Fiscal Bureau in a memo that was sent to Democratic lawmakers that was released yesterday.
Democratic leaders say the memo shows that Governor Scott Walker is prioritizing the Foxconn project over the the road repair needs of the rest for the state.
Overall, the reduction to pay for the Foxconn project is expected to leave the state highway fund as much as 870-million dollars short of the 2.4 billion the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will need to maintain roads over the next decade.
