The city of Shawano is anxiously awaiting the arrival of Culver’s. It will be going into the 1000 block of East Green Bay Street. While there redevelopment of downtown has been a somewhat arduous process, Shawano Mayor Jeanne Cronce, said building the Culver’s is pretty simple.
“As soon as they can get shovels in the dirt they will be starting,” the mayor said. “They do have their plans and they’re all set to go and anxious to come.”
Cronce says to expect that to be complete and ready to go by the middle of the summer.
As for the rumor swirling around town of a Piggly Wiggly coming to the site of the old Pick N’ Save:
“That is not [true],” Cronce said. “It is truly a rumor but they are very actively trying to pursue another grocery store to come in that building.”
The building has been vacant since Pick N’ Save closed last June, which displaced about 65 employees.
