The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office snowmobile patrol came across something interesting on Wednesday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office said that two of its deputies located a weather station that crashed into the Wolf River in the township of Weyauwega. Authorities located a GPS tracking device which appeared to be connected to a chute. Deputies learned that the device was a research project for a company that had come to the area after being deployed from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, earlier in the day.
There was minimal damage and nobody was injured as a result of the device landing into the wolf river.
