A 56-year-old man appeared in Shawano County Court Thursday to face charges for allegedly bringing a gun into Shawano Community High School the day before.
Shawano Police say Ramon Vazquez was a food service truck driver in the school district. The criminal complaint states that Vazquez showed a gun to a worker in the school kitchen. A co-worker eventually notified police who arrived and discovered the gun in the kitchen’s office. The complaint says that Vazquez did admit to bringing the gun to school and stashing it in the office.
Vazquez was formally charged with possession of a firearm in a school zone, carrying in a public building and obstructing an officer have been requested.
Bond for Vazquez was set at $500. He is due back on court Jan. 29.
Police say no one was hurt or threatened in the incident. The school day continued under normal.
