School officials at Shawano Community High School were notified at 11 a.m. Wednesday that an employee of a contracted service was in possession of a firearm.
Principal Scott Zwirschitz said the district immediately contacted the police and the suspect was taken into custody.
Police and district officials decided to continue the school day as normal.
Zwirschitz said that students and staff were never in danger.
“The safety of our students and employees is at the upmost importance to the Shawano School District,” Zwirschitz told parents in a recorded phone call.
