Lawrence E. Meloy, age 73 of the Town of Wescott, Shawano, passed away Saturday evening, December 30, 2017 at his home following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Larry was born June 6, 1944 in Milwaukee, a son of the late James P. and Rita (Lancelle) Meloy. He attended school in Milwaukee, later attending Vocation High School. Following school, he was employed at Maynard Steel Company in Milwaukee.
On March 7, 1964, Larry was united in marriage to the former Barbara Jarantowski in Milwaukee. The couple lived in Milwaukee until 1983 when they relocated to Shawano. Larry worked in the maintenance department at Eagle Knitting for several years and later for a maintenance service company. Larry is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and working on and restoring old cars. He was a good family man.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of the Town of Wescott; five children, Lawrence Meloy, Jr. of Shawano, Lisa (Thomas) Hammond of Clintonville, Tracy (Andrew) Garcia of Milwaukee, Timothy Meloy of the Town of Wescott, and April (Paul) Habeck of Shawano; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Terrance (Donna) Meloy of New London; five sisters, Elizabeth (Raymond) Vega, Kathleen (Daniel) Stovich, Mary Ellen (Ricky) Meyer, Patricia (David) Zarate, and Geraldine Wolters, all of Milwaukee; and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, James P. Meloy, Jr., Thomas Meloy, and Kevin Meloy.
A Memorial Mass for Lawrence E. Meloy will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Fr. Tom Farrell will be the Celebrant. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until the time of Mass.
