Bernard “Bernie” Streicher, Jr., age 83, of Clintonville passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville.
Bernard Richard Streicher was born on July 15, 1934 in the Town of Larrabee, Waupaca County, to Bernard “Ben” and Augusta (Kuschel) Streicher, Sr. He grew up in the Clintonville area and attended St. Martin Lutheran School. Bernie entered the U.S. Navy and served from 1952 – 1956 mostly aboard the USS Yorktown. He was united in marriage in 1958 to Joyce L. Richter at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville. The couple was blessed with four children and they were later separated. Bernie was employed for close to 20 years at Quality Plumbing & Heating of Clintonville. Then he worked for some years in the maintenance department at the Clintonville Hospital and with Behling Memorial Home, retiring in 2001.
Bernie was a lifelong member of St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville. In his younger years, he liked camping, fishing, and working at “The Farm.” He was an excellent handyman and a woodworker who could fix just about anything. More recently, he enjoyed reading and completing jig saw puzzles. Bernie often enjoyed his grandchildren’s sporting events, and he loved spending time with his family. His favorite foods were desserts, especially ice cream or pie.
Survivors include four children, Connie (Henry) Wisneski of New Hampshire, Cindy (Elmer) Awe of Clintonville, Mike (Tina) Streicher of Clintonville, and MaryAnn (Bob) Krause of Clintonville. There are 10 grandchildren, Jessica (Eric) Awe-George, Gary (Megan) Awe, Joe Wisneski, Chandra (fiancé Pavel) Wisneski, Valerie Wisneski, Nathan Krause, Eric (friend Lindsi) Krause, Anthony Krause, Jordan Streicher, and Bridget Streicher. He is further survived by two step great grandchildren, Grace and Grant George, and many other relatives and friends. Bernie is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ellen (Ruben) Hoffmier, and a brother, Ed (Joyce) Streicher.
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 12th at 11:00 AM at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Rev. Vilas Mazemke will officiate and inurnment will be at St. Martin Lutheran Cemetery, Clintonville. Military Honors will be provided at the funeral home by members of the VFW Post 664, American Legion Post 63, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 63, all of Clintonville. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
