James S. “Jim” “Jake” Jacobsen, age 66, of Cecil, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 in Appleton. Born in Milwaukee on February 5, 1951, he was the son of the late Broder and Ruth (Ball) Jacobsen. Following high school Jim joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country until receiving an honorable discharge. On March 21, 1979 Jim was united in marriage to Linda Smigielski in Waukegan, Illinois. The couple resided in Milwaukee where Jim, also known to many as Jake, worked in sales for the Catholic cemeteries and then as a salesman in the home improvement industry. The couple eventually left Milwaukee and moved north to Bonduel where Jim and Linda started JSJ Custom Builders. Jim loved the water and spent countless hours boating and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling and loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
Jim leaves behind: his wife of 38 years, Linda; five children, Kelly (Corey) Jenness of Kingsford, MI, Melissa (Craig) Langel of Holcombe, Jacob (Jennifer) Jacobsen of Glendale, Jeffrey Jacobsen of Waterford, and Kristin (Tim) Hoppe of Bonduel; 11 grandchildren, Owen, Claire, Wesley, Justin, Preston, Brianna, Jonathan, Justin, Tia, Ethan, and Gavin; and siblings, John (Donna) Jacobsen of Arizona, Gary (Debbie) Jacobsen of Marion, and Jagene (Frank Russell) Korth of Arizona. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service for Jim will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Swedberg Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00am until the time of the service. Military Honors will be conducted by the Bonduel American Legion Post #217. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.
