Elroy F. Wendt, age 88 of Shawano, passed away on Sunday evening, August 27, 2017 at Evergreen Care Center where he had been a resident for the past two weeks.
Elroy was born October 11, 1928 in the Town of Rib Falls near Edgar. He is the son of the late Fred and Alma (Woller) Wendt. He attended country schools. Following school, Elroy entered the machinist trade. On May 14, 1949 he was united in marriage to the former Janet Werner at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Brokaw for several years, later moving to Wausau.
Elroy was employed at Murray’s Manufacturing and later spent 39 years at Wausau Paper in Brokaw as a machinist, retiring in 1990. Upon retiring, the couple moved to Shawano where Elroy worked for Wally Karth as a funeral coach driver and maintenance man. Elroy is a good and faithful member of St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in the Town of Richmond. He enjoyed fishing and taking bus trips with Janet.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Janet Wendt of Shawano; his daughter Sharon (Myles) Fenske of Wausau; his son, Randy (Linda) Wendt of Rochester, MN; his grandchildren, Rebecca Raduechel and Amy Fenske; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Austin, and Taryn; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services for Elroy F. Wendt will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2107 at 11:00 AM at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church, Town of Richmond. Pastor Steve Conradt will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the St. Jakobi Building Fund in the name of Elroy F. Wendt.
