The lack of a program coordinator is putting Waupaca’s managed deer hunt in jeopardy this fall. The Waupaca Deer Management Ad Hoc Committee has been looking for a volunteer coordinator for a few months, but still no one has stepped forward. Discussions have been had about providing some kind of compensation for the coordinator, but nothing was decided. The job would entail making sure hunters know the rules, have proper permits, as well as ensuring hunters pass a proficiency test. The managed bow hunt idea was created to help handle the urban deer population within the city.
