One person was killed and four people were injured-including an Outagamie County Sheriff’s Deputy-during an accident in the Village of Bear Creek.
Outagamie County Sheriff’s Deputy Lynne James suffered minor injuries when she was driving westbound on State Street. Witnesses say a vehicle failed to yield at a stop sign and struck the squad car.
Four people were in the vehicle and all were taken to area hospitals. Two were taken by ambulance while the other two were transported by helicopter.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that a 94-year-old Seymour resident died after being flown to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the 70-year-old driver from Seymour sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The other two passengers, a 76-year-old male and 18-year-old female, both from Seymour, also sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the accident.
State Street in Bear Creek was closed for three hours.
