Green Bay Police are working on a new policy for handling suspicious mail, after two people got sick opening an envelope. Captain Kevin Warych and an unnamed secretary were sent to a hospital Monday after they opened the item, and tests were being performed at last word to see what was inside. The two victims received Narcan, which nullifies the effects of heroin. Green Bay’s police headquarters were evacuated Monday afternoon because of the incident, and the captain and secretary were sent home from the hospital Monday night and they returned to work Tuesday. Police Chief Andrew Smith says at least one other police force was targeted, but nobody there opened the envelope after an alert was sent out to law enforcement agencies statewide.
