Phantom Freshman Too Much For Shawano
West De Pere scored all their points in the first half, keeping the ball on the ground for a 42-0 win over Shawano in a Bay Conference season opener. Josh Blount filled the shoes left empty by Bay Conference Offensive Player of the Year Matthew McNabb. Blount scored four times to account for all of the Phantoms offensive points in his Varsity debut. The Freshman Quarterback rushed for 123 yards. Austin Beaumier scored the final touchdown of the half, as the Phantoms scored twice in :12 seconds after Shawano fumbled the kickoff.
Shawano Junior Roman Purell carried the running game with 59 yards on 12 carries. Jarrett Laatsch threw for 85 yards.
Before the game, members of Shawano area Law Enforcement stood on the sidelines for the National Anthem. The recognized law enforcement for all they do for the community.
