The Milwaukee Brewers score three runs in the first inning and hang on to beat Saint Louis 3-2 Tuesday night at Miller Park. The Brewers’ record futility string of oh for 33 with runners in scoring position ended when Domingo Santana singled to drive home Eric Thames. Ryan Braun drove in the Crew’s first run on a groundout and Manny Pina had the game winning hit, a double to left center that scored Santana. Jimmy Nelson made the lead stick, striking out seven in six innings while giving up R-B-I singles to Yadier Molina and Tommy Pham, and Corey Knebel threw a scoreless ninth for his 19th save. Nelson got his first career win against Saint Louis and his team high 13th quality start of the year to improve to 9-5 as Milwaukee remains second in the N-L Central, two and one half games behind front running Chicago and three ahead of the Cardinals.
