Clintonville’s Logan Liesenfelder had trouble finding the strike zone in the first inning, but found his groove and pitched the Diamondcats to an 8-7 victory.
Liesenfelder issued five walks and gave up two singles, which Iola took advantage of to jump out to a 4-0 lead.
Clintonville rallied to take a 6-4 lead in the fourth inning, sending 10 batters to the plate.
In the fourth inning comeback, Cory Riemer and Liesenfelder both singled in a run, Josh Schroeder walked to collect an RBI. Colton Kluth also hit big double to drive in two runs in the inning. He finished with two hits to lead Clintonville at the plate.
Liesenfelder tossed 6 1/3 innings, but was relieved after he maxed out in pitches with eight strikeouts to his total.
The Diamondcats outhit Iola 11-9 and did not commit a defensive error.
Ethan Olson and Seth Korb both had two hits against Liesenfelder.
Clintonville will play another elimination game 1:00 p.m. Saturday against Prairie du Chien, who fell to West Salem Friday night.
