A three-run second inning for West Salem proved to be plenty of run support for starting pitcher Alex Jeranek, who tossed a complete-game with 10 strikeouts to help guide West Salem to their second win of the state tournament.
Braxton Ghelfi drove in the three runs with a two-out, bases clearing double.
Jeranek, who scattered four hits across seven innings, also had himself a day at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
The bottom of the West Salem lineup proved to be the table setters in the win. The No. 8 and No. 9 hitters-Alex Gorski and Adam Helgeson-combined to score four runs, while the top three hitters in the lineup were responsible for five of the six runs driven in.
Nathan Krueger took the loss on the bump for Clintonville, allowing five earned runs and striking out three.
Chad Bork scored the only Clintonville run on a passed ball.
