While the rains have created challenges for many this summer, road construction crews in Shawano continues to move along and for the most part on schedule.
“It’s a big project,” Public Works Director Eddie Sheppard said of the Hamlin Street construction. “It’s one of our more integral projects that we’ve had in the last few years. [We’re] hoping to have pavement down towards the middle to the end of next week on the fifth street block down to Division Street and then they’ll continue on south where they’ll be working on the Schurz side street, Division side street and then South Hamlin.”
More construction is set to begin on Monday for the Franklin Street near Twig’s Beverage.
“Once that project gets underway, they’ll be bringing in another crew and they’ll do the North Franklin project that will hopefully be done at the end of August,” Sheppard said of the future construction plans.
Sheppard told the Shawano Common Council he believes these projects will be finished and covered by the time the Shawano County Fair rolls around.
