A Wittenberg man who was shot by Shawano County Sheriff’s Deputies in February plead not guilty to a felony charge of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and fleeing an officer.
According to a criminal complaint, 53-year-old Daniel Onesti refused to pull over for deputies, driving less than a mile from a field near his home to his residence on County Road D.
While on his property, authorities say that Onesti drove around multiple barn buildings, eventually ramming a squad vehicle, pushing it back about 30 feet and causing minor injuries to Shawano County Sheriff’s Deputy David Rogers.
No details regarding the shooting that followed are included in the complaint.
Onesti is scheduled to have a pre-trial conference Oct. 26.
