The district attorney in Appleton for the last 14 years has been named a circuit judge.
Republican Governor Scott Walker Monday named Outagamie County D.A. Carrie Schneider to replace the retiring Judge Michael Gage who stepped down this month.
The governor says Schneider has long protected victims of child abuse and domestic violence. She founded the Fox Cities Exchange Club, which deals with preventing child abuse.
Walker also noted that Schneider formed Outagamie County’s first domestic violence prosecution unit.
Once she takes the bench, Walker will get to appoint a new district attorney.
