The man accused of assaulting horses appeared for a pre-trial conference in Brown County Court on Thursday.
Still, no trial date has been set for 53-year-old Sterling Rachwal. He’s being charged with three misdemeanors: intentionally mistreating animals, disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer from a Feb. 17 incident in the Town of Eaton.
Rachwal will be due in Manitowoc County Court on July 19, where he faces two additional misdemeanors for assaulting a horse.
He has prior convictions in three other counties relating to the mistreatment of animals, including Waupaca County, where he was convicted of four counts, but declared not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
