A prisoner in the Waupaca County Jail is facing felony assault and battery charges.
Deputies say 21-year-old Deangelo L. Fonder of Weyauwega has been charged with battery by a prisoner, felony strangulation, assault by a prisoner and prisoner expelling bodily fluids.
The criminal complaint alleges that Fonder was told by deputies to head back to his cell while prisoners were being moved. When Fonder refused, a deputy put their hand on his shoulder to direct him back, which is when Fonder allegedly grabbed the deputy’s throat and began choking him.
Officers say that Fonder also spit on them before he was handcuffed and placed in a spit-hood.
The complaint also states that he made death threats towards the officers and their families. If convicted, Fonder faces a maximum of 25 years in prison and is being held on a $10,000 cash bond.
