The City of Marion is seeking to fill their community gardens, which are located on Mavis Road just west of Veterans Park.
Sign-up at this point has been lagging behind from previous years.
“Normally all our plots are filled, but this year we have not filled them,” said Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Heather Bessette. “I’m not sure what changed this year. I don’t know if people are just not wanting to plant gardens anymore or what.”
The plots are 10 x 15 ft. and the garden is available for plants of all kinds. The only cost to those using the garden plots is $5 for water.
“They can grow flowers, vegetables, fruits, whatever they like,” Bessette added. “There is water down there provided. It’s not like you have to bring water from home to water them.”
Those who may be interested in using the Marion Community Gardens can contact the Marion City Hall at (715) 754-2124.
