Saturday will be the 22nd annual Whisker Walk to benefit the Shawano County Humane Society, which is being held at a new date.
Shelly Hansen says the walk is one of the biggest fundraisers for the humane society and could really use the community support
“Without these benefits we can’t keep our doors open,” Hansen stated. “We have our annual banquet every year, which is our number one fundraiser and then our second big fundraiser is the Whisker Walk. In prior years, it has been declining so we’ve vamped it up this year.”
Hansen believes the new additions this year will generate a lot of interest in a family-fun way.
“We’re adding a large kids carnival with tons of prizes, more games. There will be 20 games to play. We’re going to have a bounce house and a dunk tank, featuring me from 1 to 2 [p.m.] only.”
Those activities will be added to an already great lineup of pet-friendly activities.
The money raised will help with payroll, electricity and water used to wash out the many cages everyday.
The walk itself begins at 2:00 p.m.
