Warm weather means the pedestrian crosswalks are expected to see an increase in use.
Shawano Interim Police Chief Dan Mauel reminds the public that the department will be issuing citations for vehicles that do not come to a stop for pedestrians at those crossings.
Residents are Leaving Their Vehicles Accessible
Since January, the Shawano Police Department has seen a high number of thefts from vehicles.
“I want to point out that we did have four more auto thefts in May, all from unlocked vehicles,” Interim Police Chief Dan Mauel informed the Shawano Common Council. “That is 10 for the year and that is disappointing. That is a lot for the city of Shawano.”
Mauel said the same reminders of locking vehicles and hiding valuables still need to be practiced.
